I received a PhD from the Department of Natural Resource Sciences in the Microbiology graduate program at McGill University. In my project, I studied the freshwater bacteria Legionella pneumophila which can cause serious lung infections. To understand its environmental ecology, I used an experimental evolution system which turned me on the power of evolutionary and genomic thinking in understanding bacterial systems. My work in the Le Roux lab will deepen these intuitions and extend them to a new environmental system, especially interesting because of the emergent layers of co-interaction in an environment x host x bacteria x phage network. Outside of the lab, I enjoy cycling through urban and suburban Montreal and its surrounding townships and enjoying whichever fruits of my garden have survived the local groundhogs.
